Our Escape 17B only had the twin bed dinette at the front and with two kiddos we were a bunk short. Since in about 7 years the Egg will become our Full-time/Part-time trailer we wanted to be able to modify a bunk that could be easily removed. I got out the chop-saw and PVC pipe and started to design on the fly.
About 4 hours later this is what I ended up with
Underside of the center:
The most difficult part was making sure the under seat storage on both sides remain accessible:
Ran into some angles on the back wall and had to go with two 45 connectors on each back support to make the curve:
My son loves the "Man Cave"
The Escape has a 30" width bunk, so these make the same size beds that we had in the 29' Bunkhouse. Very nice accomodations for bunks in an Egg!
Total cost of the bunk project was under $50 and labor time about 4 hours. My daughter is about 60-70lbs and it has a good bit more upside.
Nice Job Greg....... Looks like your having a good time with the pvc. After seeing your closet done i had to do mine in the new trailer

Is that 2"? What did you use for the platform for the mattress to rest on?
3/4" pvc. You can see the pvc cross members in some of the underneath pics on top of which laid an 1/8" plywood sheet cut in the middle to get through door easier. Mattress was on top of plywood sheeting and was a 3" memory foam mattress topper.
