Extra batteries - ventilation

Hello Everyone!

I am thinking of trying some boondocking camping this summer. I am thinking of getting an inverter to convert 12v to 120v. I am thinking of getting a couple of batteries in a series to handle my power needs.

My question is, do I need to ventilate the batteries? I'm thinking of installing the batteries beneath my seat bench area. Would it be prudent to install a H2 detector as well?

Thanks much!

Batteries

I'm assuming you are thinking of going to twin 6v? These can be configured on the tongue, so not sure why you'd want to bring them inside.

The best would be to go with AGM batteries if you bring them inside, and it is recommended even they be sealed and vented as they can off-gas in high charging situations. AGM 6v are very expensive, so again not sure if you'd want to bring the batteries inside.
