I ordered my 13' Scamp with the bike rack, to be picked up this summer, but I may cancel the rack as I've been told the rack and a couple of bikes could cause handling problems on a smaller camper.
Anthony, my understanding is weight distribution is the issue. Loading the back of the scamp takes weight off the tongue. I would think that you could distribute the weight inside the scamp to compensate for the increased weight on the back. Theoretically sounds good. Perhaps there are other limitations I am unaware of? I also ordered a rear bike hitch.

Thanks for making us feel so welcome.

Yes, that's my understanding also, but the rack and a couple of bikes will probably add about 80lbs. to the back of the camper. Never having pulled one, I couldn't say if it would be an issue or not!
They don't make that anymore apparently. I spoke someone there at P C, (Claire?) and they have stopped making that for the Scamp.Does anyone have ideas for other options for a rear receiver for a Scamp?
Perfect hitch is a good option. Looking at my build sheet we are getting the bike hitch it's $105.00 with a warranty perfect hitch $180.00. I do not know what im going to use my hitch for flat rack, shower mount, out side cook camp, step or bikes. I have done the should a would a could a to many times.
We recently picked up our 2019 13 scamp with bike rack hitch. With two bikes and the rack weighs 85 lb and so far we have no issues with handling at even 65-70 mph. but our Yakima rack has a bolt/pin instead of just a pin and is clamped securely to one side of the hitch to eliminate sway getting out of hand and then I run a motorcycle strap from the top to each end of the bumper end. There have been several who have had sway and handle problems but we have not. We also weighed the tongue and the way we load the scamp we are near 150 lb tongue weight. If the rack is just loose in the reciever you could have trouble

Just i thought i would still get the bike hitch its a little harder to add it later and you can use it for more then just bike racks.

Perfect Casita makes a after market bolt on hitch for Scamps. If you really feel you want one.

Has anyone here used the perfect casita aftermarket hitch? Is it strong? Easy to install?
