Stolen Scamp

We had our 2018 13-foot Scamp stolen from our home in Birmingham, Alabama the morning of March 25. Just posting this here in case anyone happens to come across it.  Options, included air conditioning, vinyl floor, and rear hitch. VIN: 1S7R13109J1822196

Thanks,

Randy

Randy, could you tell us more

Randy, could you tell us more about the theft? How did it happen? Also, are there any distinguishing things about your Scamp that would help us identify it if we see it at a campground?

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through this. It's got to be a disturbing and frustrating experience.

Sorry to hear

Any pics of the trailer you could put up?

Which Layout? Deluxe or standard?

These are unusual trailers and are usually recovered so we'll pray that's your outcome....

Stolen Scamp

The trailer had an AL tag# 1A0B8HX.  It is a 13' Standard layout without a shower.  When it was stolen it had a Thule bike rack on the rear hitch.  It doesn't really have any modifications other than a few of the cupboard doors inside that I replaced.  So from the outside it basically looks like it did the day we picked up up from the factory, but am attaching a few pictures.

Thanks for your interest and help!

Also, the rear stabilizer feet are probably damaged since it looks like they did not pull them up when they drove off, as indicated by the deep gouges in the gravel where it had been parked.  We also obtained video from a neighbor about 8 blocks away where you can hear them still dragging.  I cannot upload the video here but it is posted on Nextdoor if you have a Nextdoor login you can view it in the comments on this thread:  https://nextdoor.com/p/SypRPz2Dq-Nm?view=detail

Thanks!

Stolen Scamp

Not surprised but very sad to hear your Scamp was stolen. I was somewhat fearful of that potential when I brought home my 2022 Scamp 16, Layout 6.with AC  I quickly purchased a big yellow wheel lock and tow bar hitch locks to get some rest when prepped for a trip in my driveway. Towed it from Minneapolis to Southern tip of Texas in time  to witness Elon Musk's first star ship launch and return w/o any problems. The wheel locks in particular give me great piece of mind. I recommend all Scamp owners buy one.

Identifying characteristics

I'm sorry to hear about this. Hopefully you will recover it and it will still be in good order. I do have locks on mine but understand it's a deterrent not an absolute. I've read about thieves wrapping a chain around the hitch part and just dragging it off, hitch lock and all. Your folks dragged the stabilizers and I'm sure they'd be willing to drag a locked tire too if need be. But I do think a deterrent helps.

if mine were stolen I'd be in the same boat as you. No distinguishing external characteristics. I've been thinking about adding some reflective tape on the back and it occurs to me that might also help if it's stolen. I'm going to do that, maybe some unusual pattern.

I hope you get Scamp back.
