Porta Potty

Our 13' has no bathroom and that is what we ordered when we had it built we like the extra room and things work out good with camp grounds and boon docking.  We have a luggable loo but the wife was not to crazy about it and it did smell bad even with cat litter or saw dust so i bought a porta potty from Walmart. Anyone have a good or bad story with one like this one.

We have three:One in our boat

We have three:One in our boat, another in the loft of our cottage, as well as one in the SCAMP!  We use the commercial holding tank chemicals (which you can buy at Walmart, Camping World, etc.).  If you can avoid doing "Number 2" in the potti, it can last for 2-3 weeks, without any smell.  After dumping, it is important to clean thoroughly all the parts and pieces; we sometimes spray with Lysol.

Good Potty

I bought one very similar to the Sani Potti that Scamp sells from my local Fleet Farm store. It fits under the couch nicely so that if I don't need to use it, it is out of sight, out of mind. I've only used it on one trip but it worked really well. My strategy was to empty it whenever I could, so the longest it wasn't emptied was a couple days. Even without the chemical you can add to help with odor, it didn't smell. I think the fresh water it holds to flush with really helps that and my frequent emptying didn't give it time to get smelly.

We used two at our cabin,

We used two at our cabin, (now sold) one upstairs and one downstairs, for many years while i was finishing the interior. When it was full we emptied into our outhouse holding tank. Till we got running water and sewer system installed. No smells and easy to empty. Used porta-potty stuff and lysol when not using. Always made sure it was completely empty over the winter months.
