Insulation

I see that new Scamps have R15 rated insulation. Have Scamp always been insulated or if not, about what year did they start to be insulated?

Thanks, Patric

The R-15 is debatable some say there is suppose to be an air gap. In 1986 Scamp went to the hull liner (rat fur) and reflectix insulation as they now use. Before then they used ensolite a thin foam with a vinyl covering mostly to deal with condensation. The reflectix they use is double layer bubble which is thicker than what I have seen in other trailers. The floors are not insulated. Some use half inch foam matting for winter camping. With the 16K but heater the camper is comfortable unless in extreme conditions. The Scamp is a 3 season camper.

We have Scamped in minus 21 degrees once in MN.  Furnace kept us toasty warm while cycling off and on with the thermostat.

We travel four season and use a small electric for temps down to about 25 F then the Scamp's "big" furnace kicks on and trys to blast us out of the "house".
