Experience with 2016 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 2.4 as tow vehicle

Would like some feedback on any experience as regards towing with a Jeep Cherokee 2.4.  Manual says 2,000 lb. max, - service department advises no more that 1,500 max.  I must say that the car's performance is pretty modest.  Had I know that I was going to seriously consider buying a Scamp, I would have purchase something with more towing capaciity.  If I cannot tow a 13' foot model that is pretty well equipped, I will have to rethink decision.  Scamp says it will weigh about 1500 lb. or so - and I'm guessing 1800 when it us loaded up for a trip (minus water).  Thanks for your help.

You'd be pushing the limits.

You'd be pushing the limits. I'd consider either another vehicle or a teardrop trailer. JMHO

I would buy the Scamp and tow

I would buy the Scamp and tow it with your Jeep and if you are not satisfied with the Jeep's performance, upgrade when you are ready to buy another vehicle. I just towed my 13 footer 1,600 miles from the Scamp factory with my 2.5 L four cylinder Subaru Forester with a six speed manual transmission and had no issues. I will continue using the Forester and if I think I need a more powerful vehicle, I will upgrade when I trade it in.
