just a note- recently ordered 2018 scamp 16. Was told it will have a new model (large option) fridge. it will be a bit smaller . removable freezer- so you can use it without freezer. 3 way power. It will not stick out into isle (more recessed than old one) . I looked at dometic home page, I think it has a stainless front. sounds good to me.

new scamp fridge for 2018
Do you know which model it is? Is there a choice of fridge or is this going to be standard?

my take on what they told me is prior to 2018 you had a choice of 1.9 cu ft or the 4.6 cu ft. (dometic) 2018 will be the 1.9 or the new 3.7 cu ft which is smaller but with more features. I think these are the only ones scamp puts in their trailers. looking at dometic website the dometic 8-series fridge matches the discription they told me.

On the Scamp website, Parts Department, under Appliances they are listing the following item:
"Dometic RM8501 3.7 Cubic Foot Refrigerator"
It lists the details I believe you were told about in more detail.

I wonder if this will fit in older trailers, and will it work better than the Dometic 2202?
If someone tries this, please post here - I've wondered about a replacement, but haven't really pursued it.

The Dometic 8K's sold in the US are not rated for warm climates, thin insulated boxes. Unless they have upgraded them in the last year I would stay away from the Dometic 8K series refrigerators. Also parts are hard to find and extra expensive. In some cases people had to wait for Dometic to mfg. replacement parts for the 8K some models. Scamp is making a mistake going to this frig. series. The problem is there are not many choices for the narrow body 21" wide refrigerators.
