Removing the red decals?

We picked up our 13 foot Scamp in Backus in July and have begun some minor renovations. The curtains were replaced, cabinet doors painted, new knobs, couch being reupholstered, new flooring going in shortly. I would like to remove the pinstriping on the side of the camper. It looks like it could be peeled off fairly easily. Has anyone out there done this? Any suggestions? Thanks. Anthony

Decals

Hey Anthony,

I haven't done this intentionally on a Scamp, but have seen it done. Going for the Full Egg look, eh? On some other trailers, the newer the trailer, the easier they are to remove and should just lift off. The longer they burn in with the sun and get coats of wax, etc. the tougher they are to get off and start shredding when you try and peel them.

One of the first things I did on my new trailer was to peel the Hehr decals off the windows and they came right off. The older trailers, the Hehr decals are a pain and have to be razor bladed off.

Try the heat from a hair

Try the heat from a hair dryer. If you get the vinyl warm enough and use a plastic scraper, it should peel right off. But why remove the pin striping? It's part of the Scamp's personality.

Scamp decals

We would have had Scamp leave the decals off if we knew that was an option. We would like to do something different with the bottom half of the camper, paint perhaps or our own decals.
