Newbie with water line to pump question

HI.....we have picked up our new to us 2003 Scamp 16.   Trying to figure out how to hook the water line to the pump.  When I started to fill the water tank, I went inside to check and saw water flowing!   It appears there are TWO unconnected lines.....not sure what to call them.

The one appears to be coming from the water tank and ends in a threaded black connector...and I think should go on to the pump?   On the pump intake side there is a clear tube with no connector just a cut end....am I missing something?   Also, shouldn't there be a shut off valve here?    One other problem is that I put about 3" of water into the tank, and the drain valve does not appear to drain.   Tried moving the lever to various positions, and poking a wire into the outside drain, but other than a few drips...nothing.    Would GREATLY appreciate some help.  Thanks

water line to pump question

The input to the pump gets the line from the fresh water tank, and the output goes to the water system, same lines as the city water goes to. That clear line with no fitting was maybe used for winterizing. I know that it is hard to see in this picture, but when the leaver is turned to the word drain, mine is open. Open it, go outside and blow into the line, maybe some thing is blocking the flow.  Good luck.

Tank Drain

Insects will often use the drain line as a nest over the winter. Use an open coat hanger or a very long screwdriver inserted in the drain tube from under the trailer to open the clog.

Got the water line hooked up....drain still not draining

Applied some muscle and got the clear hose off the pump and screwed the fresh water supply on. Turned on the pump and ran pink antifreeze out of the sink faucet. Tried clearing the drain line with some wire while DH turned the drain lever...a few drips and nothing more. Now I am wondering if there isn't enough water in the tank to drain out.....apparently from what I read it does retain water in the bottom. Going to boldly go and fill the tank and see what happens. THANKS for your help.

Ordered a new drain and access hatch

Well, that drain valve is no good. We pushed wire, water, air, flipped it tapped it and no go....so ordered a new one. I read somewhere on the forum about someone who installed a kayak deck hatch on top of the water tank....sounds better than water all over once we pull the valve....so will wait for it all to arrive. Good news was that I ran the pump to flush the bathroom, and so far no leaks anywhere....WHOO HOO! BTW Trudy is our Basset Rescue Extraordinaire….now working on Agility Dog training....she wanted a Scamp.
