Microwave replacement in Scamp 19

Ours died and got replaced.  Wasn't possible to replace with the same make & model, but we did OK.

Installation

Our Scamp microwave jumped out of the hole more than once. (We have a 2017 16 Deluxe)

We were at the factory last year for other reasons and I mentioned in passing that we had this difficulty. Their shop is always great to work with and they told me, when I was ready to depart, that they added an extra angle bracket behind the microwave to keep it in place. (Apparently a know problem.) By the time we got back home in Illinois the microwave had jumped out of the frame and broke off both front feet and now the microwave was free floating. I wasn't going to drive back to Backus for this one and pulled the microwave out of the cabinet. I replaced the plastic front microwave feet with two plastic Jeep trim pieces from a local auto parts store. I fashioned an additional aluminum bracket which I attached into the underside of the cabinet thus holding the microwave down once installed back into the cabinet space. The $3 in parts was worth the effort and having added back the decorative trim it all seems to stay in place now.

As an aside the microwave brand that came with our trailer is a brand from China that has no special attributes for RV usage.

What struck me about this particular fix was the lack of design by Scamp. In that I mean the microwave would have been OK in the cabinet IF the trailer was never expected to bounce down the road. It was clearly a pot hole away from being a problem from the beginning.

Scamp Microwave

JTST_Scamper - It was interesting to read about your microwave experience.  I'm surprised not more people have raised this issue with Scamp, though as usually off-grid campers we didn't have any problem with the OEM Sharp microwave until encountering some remarkable "pothole away from being a problem" roads into several Montana state forest campgrounds.

I wonder if there are ANY microwaves not made in China?
