Thanks Sarah,

Ours is set up much like yours. We did opt for the gas water heater and pump, but I am questioning the necessity of those additions as we don't want the bathroom configuration. The only reason to have hot water is for doing dishes, which I would prefer to wash outside whenever possible. It's been interesting trying to determine what we actually need in our camper.

Basic Scamp

We have a "basic" Scamp with no built-in amenities.  The primary lighting system runs off 12v (battery) power.  (We also have one 110v light over the sink..).

Ice box

If I may, I add a bit more.  The ice box has a built in drain and so far, it has no issues.  The ice box has no external venting ( no external air leaks).  I have no idea where the controls are on the 1.9 refrigerator, are some of the controls only accessible from the out of the trailer?

Bob, how long will a block of ice keep your ice box in the 40 F range? I assume you are happy with the decision to go with ice box vs fridge?

Mark,

Mark,

I cannot give you a direct reply, I have never used a block ice in the ice box.  However, it should out last a crushed ice.  The ambient temperature also would make a difference.

Lilly and I usually prechill our ice box and contents the night be for we leave, this creates thermo ballist.  (We raid our home 'frig and ice maker.)  Starting with the ice box filled with ice and the contents cold, within two days we are looking for more ice.

Often times, we travel with a larger cooler in our truck that is wrapped in old blankets for more insulation.

Bob, thanks for that info. I have several U-Haul packing mats that I  have used for extra insulation. Sure helps.
